Sorry Apeksha for posting a month later than when you nominated me. Your comment went to my spam 😦 But I appreciate being included and want to thank you. For everyone else, she is a 14 year old Indian reader, writer, and philosopher. Please check her blog out. You won’t be sorry.

Starting BigAndPinkyToes
I had an idea for a cookbook and submitted a draft to a few publishers who told me I didn’t have a large enough platform of my own to take on publishing a book for. So I decided to start a blog. I didn’t want my blog to be just about food though. I thought I would run out of material for the book and the blog. Plus I like writing about things besides food. So my blog is about my food, my family and whatever other random thing is going on. It’s pretty representative of me, all over the place 🙂 My goal is to blog at least 2 times a week for a year to just see what comes from it.
Ironically now the cookbook has taken a backseat to blogging. Funny how that works. I have been invited to be a contributing writer on 2 websites since starting. So I guess I am just going to keep at it and see where this ride takes me.
When I was in high school a million years ago when dial up internet was still common place, I created a yahoo email account. EVERY name seemed to be taken. I discovered bigandpinkytoes was free, something ridiculous I just made up . 20 years later I still have that email account. It always seems to make people laugh or smile. So I chose it for my blog name too.
MY PIECE OF ADVICE TO NEW BLOGGERS
A blog isn’t something you just start or do real quick. It takes time. It doesn’t explode but grows slowly. Invest in it, and don’t get caught up in the numbers or stats. Those numbers represent actual people that are taking time our of their lives to look at something you put out there. Post content you are proud of as regularly as you can, engage with the people who read your blog, and visit other blogs often. Like, comment, share. Blogging is a community.
NOMINATIONS – I’d love it if you participated but no problem if you don’t. Either way, take it as the compliment it’s intended to be.
Me, Myself and Everything Else
Thanks for stopping by, and happy blogging to you.
It’s funny that your blog name was completely random because I really like it! I figured there was a story behind it.
Also funny how your recipes (which are great) are taking a backseat to other topics. They always say it’s good to have a niche but I also have trouble sticking to one thing. Life is so much more complicated than that.

Yes! I know *they* say to find your niche, but there’s no way I could stick to it. Maybe writing for the moms blog site will make some room on my blog to be more focused. . . .buuut probably not lol

Thank you for nominating my blog Lacey. 🙂
I like your blog’s name- it’s cutesy-funny!…and there’s a touch of childlikeness to it that I really love. You’re right, it makes people smile. 🙂
Thank you for the advice too- especially the one about being too concern with the numbers. I agree, blogging takes time and you have to be interested in other blogs too if you want to grow in the blogging community. 🙂

Thanks Nina! Yeah I just feel like when you are actually connecting with people the numbers matter less. Thanks for reading it 🙂

I’m with you… and connecting with people is more important than the numbers. 🙂

Well thanks, it’s nice to be recognized!
Our blog name is purely descriptive. Plus, it wasn’t taken ! (I know, imagine that). It’s kind of funny, and memorable, and has the added benefit of being at the top of the pile, alphabetically. Plus I’ve now had the super fun experience of wearing a press badge that calls me an Asshole in front of untold celebrities AND I’ve been blocked from using press wifi at film festivals because I’m classified as porn.
