I hope everyone had a great week. Thanks for checking out my weekly series Week in Review, posted every Friday. Enjoy a recap of how the week went down and tell about how yours went!

1) What blog should you check out?

If you don’t know of fitness blogger, Shay-lon, you need to go ahead and check out her blog. I know we need to be mindful of health and fitness ALL the time. But I also know with swim suit season looming we maybe a tad more mindful of it right now. What I appreciate is that she focuses on both mental AND physical health and even the connection between the two.

Once Shay-lon had a post where she referenced squats or lunges. I asked her why those bothered my knees so much. What I thought was a simple question, was met with a well thought out response that offered several options and suggestions to try correct the pain I was experiencing (while also responsibly letting me know I may need to talk to my doctor). You know what? I can do those exercises now. Guys, this girl is awesome. Plus she celebrated a birthday this week. So tell her happy birthday while you are there.

2) What’s gotten my attention this week?

Sp-Sp-Sp-SPRING!!!! Yep the first day of spring came and brought 90 degree temperatures. Yikes! Oklahoma weather can be extreme, but even for here that is unseasonably warm. It’s making me feel thankful we pulled the trigger and got a tornado shelter last year.

3) What’s been going on this week?

If you read “Mommy, can you stop being mad?” you A) may think I am a terrible mom or B) wouldn’t be surprised if I said my weekend bled into my week and continued to be pretty crappy. My week was awesome though. Even with higher than usual temperatures, by the time I got home from work it has been perfect weather for playing outside.

My friend over at (in a house of frank and beans) I am the eggs introduced us to an awesome local park, Little River Park. The playground has big toys that look like pirate ships. There’s little walking trails, one that leads you by 2 duck ponds. We had a picnic. The kids were nice enough to say I set up a cafe for them!

Big toy pirate ships got two thumbs up from the kiddos.

Oh la la “The Cafe”

Also, I’m excited Aldi has deli sliced smoked salmon. I’ve been having it as a breakfast treat one or two days a week.

4) What’s going on this weekend?

A lot. It’s one of those weekends where my husband is going to be annoyed and feel like I over extended myself. Actually I think our calendar from now through April will be pretty full. It’s all good stuff though. This weekend  I am getting together with my book club. It’s my turn to pick the book, and I CANNOT DECIDE ON ONE!

The kids and I are going to a Peppa Pig birthday party. Look what my step dad carved for us to take as a gift. He makes wooden spoons, family birthday calendars, toys etc. His email is ron@rongurley.com if you are interested in seeing more or purchasing something.

5) Did you miss this post?

Goodbye sad weekday lunches and hello to shredded buffalo chicken! I made a batch Sunday night and put it on sandwiches and salads for lunches all week. YUMMMMM

    1. Yes! I couldn’t remember if I let you know or not, but I can do them. I have to go slower than the people on the workout videos usually and really concentrate on the for, but I can do them. I think my knees are still bad regardless. With squats and lunges though I think my knees were going too far passed my toes when I was going down. Thanks for your help!

      1. Lacey! slow is fine, the fact that you can do them now is all I care about! this made me so happy 😀 wow! You should be proud of yourself. Hey, no worries, my lunges look like crap unless I go slow and concentrate too -_- I am not a huge fan of lunges! lol

  3. Hey Lacey– those Peepa Pig Toys are great!! Nice to have a talented Dad! — And I didn’t know people had actual tornado shelters in their homes! wow!! –And we had Aldi stores in Spain (they originated in Germany) and recently they built one here, but it’s quite a drive. What else do you like to get there? Looks like a all around good week. Hope the busy weekend was loads of fun! xo

    1. Yeah the tornado shelters in the garages are a newer thing. Before the storm shelters were built underground outside. They still do those too, but if weather is really bad or comes really quick, this makes me feel safer with the kids and all.

Oh cool! I didn’t know Aldi was European. We get tons from there. I think their nuts and olive oil is a great bargain.

We did have a good weekend, thanks! How was yours?

      1. Good to know Lacey. I’ll have to head over and check out our new Aldi. And that amazing about the indoor access storm shelters. We were in on tornado the years we lived in Dallas and just opened all the windows and watched in on tv! We were OK, but parts of the city were leveled! It was scary! Hope no storms head your way!! xox

      2. Lol Rhonda that’s how people are here too. Some even go outside to watch. After having the babies I started having major anxiety come storm/spring season. So it helps with my peace of mind.

      3. Sure. It’s a security to be prepared. I’ve seen those flattened homes on the news! We just have earthquakes here– but there is not warning time to get under cover! So here’s to boring weather Lacey!! xox
