Week in Review

Week in Review 4/7/17

I hope everyone had a great week. Thanks for checking out my weekly series, Week in Review, posted every Friday. Enjoy a recap of how the week went down and tell me about yours.

1) What’s gotten my attention this week?

Easter candy. Actually bigger and more important things in the world have gotten my attention this week. But I am tired and work was busy. So I want to keep it light. Easter candy was one happy thing that got my attention this week, specifically Cadbury Eggs. I’m not even big on sweets. I’m usually a salty, carby kind of gal, but I do love a Cadbury Egg come spring time. Maybe it’s because I cannot have them all the time? What’s your favorite Easter candy?

2) What blog should you check out?

Bubbles and Beebots. This is not only one of my favorite mom blogs to follow but also just one of my favorite blogs overall. It’s probably weird to say this, but I think if Erin and I knew each other personally, we would really hit it off and have an odd but happy friendship. The tagline for her blog is “Because children are people too… really weird little people.”

The woman is funny, straight up funny. Even though she’s a mom and blogs about kids, it’s not typical posts. You’ll read about things like her daughter saying “Well SH*T, looks like I just crapped my pants!” on a trip to the zoo. And when she doesn’t have you laughing, she will have you thinking, or doing both.

3) What’s been going on this week?

Whew! We made a quick trip to Grapevine, TX to take the kiddos to Great Wolf Lodge for our nephew’s 10th birthday celebration. If you have ever thought about going, there is PLENTY to do. My 2 and 4 year old were able to do most of the indoor water park stuff. There are also free daily activities like yoga, story time, and a dance party. And of course there is a ton of extra stuff you can do/spend your money on while you are there.

Tips! It was busy for our blood on Sat-Sun. If we go again, we will try to go through the week. Also there is usually a groupon or if you book 60 days in advance you get 40% off. They do have mini fridges in the rooms. So we packed a ton of waters, sandwich stuff, breakfast bars, and fruit to help with food cost.

Cute side note, because my kids watch Peppa Pig they called the trip our “holiday.” They have also been known to use the phrase “swimming costume.”

4) What’s going on this weekend?

Mom Prom. That’s right. I am going to an all girls, grown up mom prom. There will be dinner and drinks and dancing and swag bags and vendors. What is going to make it better? My bestest friend was a teenage mom who didn’t make it to her own prom. Sooooo I am getting to take her to her first prom!!! SQUEAL!!!!

Bonus? Her only frame of reference for prom are 80s movies. So we are going to mom prom 80s style. MORE SQUEAL!!!!

Another bonus? My bomb ass cousin who is a professional dance instructor at a university is going with us. SO MUCH SQUEAL I AM PROBABLY CAUSING PERMANENT DAMAGE TO YOUR EARS!!!!

I haven’t settled on an official look, but it maybe something like this plus some bangles and heavy blush of course.

  1. My week hasn’t been exciting, mostly work. Our plans include a mother son event at school tonight for mom’s, which involves trampolines. Tomorrow is soccer.

I love indoor water parks. They are so much fun. FYI, I think you have a typo in number 3, for Great Wolf Lodge.

Hope you had a beautiful weekend. Was really great here … spent time with a partner (he's wonderful), did a forgiveness coaching session, and just relaxed too!!

  4. Lacey– you are awesome!! Love that Mom Prom outfit!! I never heard of such a thing, but it sounds like tons of fun!! And– I love all kinds of easter candy. It’s SO pretty! I could wander the Easter aisles of Target all day. I just mailed off packages of Easter candy and treats to all our kids. Big Fun! What are you doing for Easter? Does your family get together?? Hope it’s a sweet meaningful day for you all… Blessings.

    1. Yes! Easter at Target is soooo pretty, almost peaceful even lol.

I think we will do an egg hunt and family lunch. I’ve got some little baskets ready for them. And church of course. Maybe we can get a pic of everyone dressed up AND looking at the camera this year!

  5. I’m so touched that you featured my blog!!! 🙂 You know, I get busy and drift off from my blog for a week or so and come back to find someone mentioning me. I’m surprised by how many backlogged comments and posts a week can produce, but I promise I responded to your comment the moment I saw it.

And I’m so glad you laughed at the story about my toddler saying, “Well sh*t, I just crapped my pants,” because I sure did. Still, this is edgy reporting in the mom-blogging world.

You look ADORABLE in your little 80’s getup. At the risk of dating myself, I’ll admit… I do… kinda remember the 80’s pretty well. All you’re missing is some loud turquoise eyeshadow, possibly done in a tricolor striped rainbow with yellow and pink. Hope you had tons of fun. 🙂
