I hope everyone had a great week. Thanks for checking out my weekly series, Week in Review, posted every Friday. Enjoy a recap of how the week went down and tell me about yours.
1) What’s gotten my attention this week?
The Pioneer Library System. I take my kids to the library. We play there. We read books there, but I just recently got us a library card. Honestly the reason I haven’t gotten one before now is I was scared the kids would tear up the books or I would rack up late fees. Plus we have a good amount of books at home.
My son has been able to read words for awhile. I wanted to work with him on reading short sentences. None of our books at home were working quite right. So off to the library we went to get a card.
We started with checking out some of the “We Both Can Read” books. The left page is more in depth for the parent to read and the right is more simple for the child to read. My son did well with those. So we checked out a few more and a phonics book. You guys, this week my son read a book cover to cover all by himself!!!
So since the Pioneer Library System is having a summer reading program, we will for sure be participating. It kicks off with events and parades on June 1st.
2) What blog should you check out?
Tony Meets Meats. With Memorial weekend upon us, I promise if you are planning to grill at this summer this is the most appropriate blog recommendation for you to check out. Tony posts his creative and experimental meat recipes, mostly grilled or smoked. I mean, the man is doing things like filling avocados with eggs. Then wrapping them in bacon, and throwing the whole thing on the grill. He is always surprising me with what he comes up with, and everything looks freakin’ delicious. He’s really a lot of fun to follow.
3) What’s been going on this week?
Work and kids, again. This is what I put for last week too. Work has been busy. When I get home our routine has been to have dinner, water the garden, read, do some Cosmic Kids Yoga, and try to squeeze in one grown up show before bed. I’m behind on reading blogs too. I’ll catch up soon!
4) What’s going on this weekend?
An anniversary and graduation celebration. My best friends oldest son is graduating high school. Crazy! We will be going to a reception for him. Later this weekend we are having a family cookout to celebrate my mom and stepdad’s 25th wedding anniversary. So many milestones! Congratulations guys!!!
5) Did you miss this post?
Becoming a Mom Made Me a Crybaby. It’s my latest published post on for the Oklahoma City Mom’s Blog. Check it out. Remember to share it if you like it 🙂
Thanks for reading.
How was your week? Tell me, what are you up to this weekend?

Lacey, your mom is gorgeous! Congratulations on their 25th year anniversary!
And kudos to you for your kid finally reading his first book! His accomplishment is YOUR accomplishment! 😊 You are so right about children growing fast so we should enjoy every moment we have with them. I try to always play with my daughter despite my work schedule… also this time, we’re studying together again.
I’ll check out your recommended blog. I hope you enjoy your weekend Lacey! 😊

HI Lacey– Congratulations to your Mom and Step-dad!! that’s something to celebrate!! And your garden is looking good. And– love love taking kids to the library– they can pick stacks of books and it’s free! When I took my kids, we kept the library books on the bottom bookself in the living room so we could find them to return them! And when the kids were in high school (too old to go to the library with mom!), I’d check out short books, art, history, science… that I thought they would like and left them on the coffee table so they’d pick them up and browse. Happy Memorial Day weekend !!

OH can I steal these ideas from you? I’ve been trying to find a spot to keep our library books. The bottom shelf of the book case in the living room would be perfect. And I love that you checked out family library books when they were old enough to be too cool to go with you! I can see myself doing that too.
