I hope everyone had a great week. Thanks for checking out my weekly series, Week in Review, posted every Friday. Enjoy a recap of how the week went down and tell me about yours.
1) What’s gotten my attention this week?
Why We Won’t Be Sitting on Santa’s Lap this Year. It’s a post I came across that has an interesting take on considering the #metoo movement, consent, and making kids sit on Santa’s lap. If my kids want to sit on his lap they can. If they don’t then they won’t. The post takes it a bit further than just consent, prompting us to consider the message it maybe sending our kids to sit on a strange person’s lap and request for toys in return.
What do you think?
2) What blog should you check out?
Synnove Polaris. Synovve is a teenage blogger who takes us on her journey, sharing all the good, the bad, and optimism that comes with navigating being 15. Check out this insightful blog.
3) What’s been going on this week?
4) What’s going on this weekend?
Birthday parties. A few times a year we seem to have a cluster of birthday parties that fall on the same weekend. It’ll be a lot of jammed packed fun. Since the weather has turned cold I am ready to get my kids out so they can run out all their crazy that’s been building up this week.
5) Did you miss this post?

Your first point is reallllly interesting – why do we force kids to do something like sit on santa’s laps if they clearly hate it?!

Yeah I mean the pictures maybe funny or cute, but is it sending the right message?

Have to admit I’m at my mom’s place and I’m really getting pampered. 🙂 Unashamedly looking forward to a whole weekend of lazily lying around and some more pampering.

Hey Lacey– I’m with you on letting kids decide about Santa!! Love the picture of you whisking your daughter away– a real life mom moment. We took our 4 kids to make a picture together with a mall Santa. Laurel (1 year old) was on his lap and he dropped her!! She screamed and that was the end of the photo op!! And– love that the pink flamingos are still around!! Have fun at the birthday parties– family or school friends!! You all get invited to so many parties! Happy weekend! hugs hugs Lacey!

He dropped her!?!?! That tops any and all Santa visit stories. Were you so mad or did you just pick her up and go? That’s nuts.

Not mad, but pretty surprised– She was OK just scared. But no picture– and our last visit to Santa! ha ha!!

Hi Lacey, I love those flamingoes from your daughter!!!! 🙂 So much fun. Reading your posts reminds me a lot about play. I ended up taking a day today to walk with my partner, to do work at his place and to just unwind. Very good for me!
Sending you love,
Debbe
