Week in Review

Week in Review 12/1/17

I hope everyone had a great week. Thanks for checking out my weekly series, Week in Review, posted every Friday. Enjoy a recap of how the week went down and tell me about yours.

1) What’s gotten my attention this week?

The domino effect. I can be naive, but I am not naive enough to think that sexual harassment does not happen. Still, the volume of the accusations coming out has surprised me. I guess the harassment today is just more closeted and less blatant than it used to be. I hope people keep coming forward and that this is a defining moment for our country to produce actual change.

2) What blog should you check out?

Estonian Cuisine. Eesti Toit. Ruta is an Estonian mama who’s daughter moved out of the country and kept asking her for recipes from home. That combined with getting a new camera, Ruta was inspired to start an Estonian food blog. Not only do I love the story behind her blog, but her recipes are interesting and the photos are clean and crisp. I was excited to have found this blog, and I know you will be too. Check it out.

3) What’s been going on this week?

Or last two weeks? I missed putting up a Week in Review post last week. That’s the first time since I started the series. I kinda fell off the face of the planet. I was drowning in work and had a sick family at home. Everyone had strep or some viral garbage with super high fevers. It seems like between migraines and allergies and being around kiddos I have been sickly a lot the last few months. If anyone has a sure fire tip on how to boost my immune system, I’m all ears.

We were supposed to go to my in-laws for Thanksgiving. I had made some sides to take. When we all got sick and I knew we weren’t going to make it, I through together a makeshift Thanksgiving dinner. I know I’m late, but how was your Thanksgiving?

4) What’s going on this weekend?

Parties Parties Parties. I think everyone our family knows and loves is having a birthday party this weekend. It’ll be busy but lots of fun, starting with a shrimp boil for my brother-in-law tonight.

5) Did you miss this post?

Magic Happened at Our House Last Night. This is a post from this time last year, but it might as well have been written last week. Almost the exact same thing happened again. We are ready for Christmas at our house. How about you?

Thanks for reading. How was your week? Tell me, what are you up to this weekend?

  1. Your Makeshift Thanksgiving Dinner looks delicious. But I’m sorry that your family wasn’t feeling well. As for your question about this weekend, my answer is Not Much. This will be the last weekend before the holiday socializing storm starts, so I’m planning on resting and keeping a low profile. Said like the true introvert that I am!

  2. Oh Lacey, it’s so good to read this post! I hope you’re all feeling better now. ❤ It can be good to take a rest.

I had a quiet Thanksgiving with my partner. Really needed the connection …. just being relaxed and still together. (I was going to go to a peace ranch in Santa Barbara and decided to skip it.)

Hope you are doing well & having a great weekend. Enjoy the parties. OH and I am wondering that ginger can be helpful for your immune system. Oregano? Herbs can be really powerful & healing, if it calls to you.

    Love and blessings, Lacey,
    Debbie

    1. That sounds like my speed of Thanksgiving. Sounds like you made the right choice to stay home.
Herbs, great call. My mom dropped off some herb oils. I’m going to give them a go. Fingers crossed they help.

Debbie it’s so good to hear from you. I hope you are a wonderful week!!!

    1. Thanks Rhonda, I picked up ham steaks, frozen rolls, and pulled out the sides I had made up to take with us. It worked out okay enough.
The shrimp boil was so much fun.
