I hope everyone had a great week. Thanks for checking out my weekly series, Week in Review, posted every Friday. Enjoy a recap of how the week went down and tell me about yours.
1) What’s gotten my attention this week?
A blow up weenie dog. One of my oldest and dearest friends lives about an hour and a half away. That doesn’t sound like a huge distance. Each of us has small kids and full time jobs though. So we don’t get to see each other nearly as often as we’d like.
My friend recently sent us a care package full of goodies, including a blow up Christmas dachshund! Those 2 mini dachshunds I’m holding are Dixie and Snickers, our fur children. The kids have named the blow up weenie Ruffie.
2) What blog should you check out?
The Spectacled Bean. The author of the blog is Ally Bean who wears spectacles. Thus the name of the blog. And you know what? The blog is as witty as it’s name. Plus it’s been around for over a decade. A decade! Ally cleverly writes her observations and musings from Midwest suburbia, and it will have you chuckling along the way. Check it out.

3) What’s been going on this week?
Pre-Time Off Slump. I get a pretty decent chunk of time off work around the holidays, and I am finding HARD to stay motivated until that time off starts. So instead of complaining to you about being tired and trying to make it through the home stretch, enjoy a collage of pictures from some birthday parties we’ve attended over the last few weekends.
4) What’s going on this weekend?
The holiday whirlwind begins. We have Christmas 1 of 4 this weekend. Plus we are taking the kids on a Christmas train ride. My kids’ excitement for the season is contagious though, and his former bah humbug is actually looking forward to it.
5) Did you miss this post?
I live with a 5 year old inventor. I love the way my son’s mind works. He’s always building and creating. Check out this post for just a few of his inventions.
Thanks for reading. How was your week? Tell me, what are you up to this weekend?
– Lacey
Thanks for featuring my blog here. I’m flattered to be included.
And on a completely different note, I love Ruffie. You’ve got one cool friend there and one cool Christmas decoration. I’m laughing here at the cute absurdity.

Lol Ruffie wouldve cracked me up if a friend had sent me one! So funny. Also, the shrimp boil looks amazing. I have been in North Dakota for a year now (moved from Florida/alabama) and I definitely miss all the seafood❤

Yes! We LOVE Ruffie 🙂
Oh you have all my sympathy. I would miss it too. Is there some kind of food in ND that you can’t get in FL or AL?

You do get around Lacey!! But isn’t it great to have family who all want to share you?? We’re up in SF with 3 of our kids– delicious fun! And tomorrow we head home with a different combination of 3 kids for a bunch of family celebrations. My favorite is Christmas night when it’s just us and our kids & grand-kids. We make Spanish tapas and eat on the coffee table by the fire. Then this year Ani is organizing a talent show– that should be funny. Hope you hold up well through it all– and enjoy all the people you love around you Lacey. hugs hugs.

You have the best ideas and traditions. Spanish tapas AND a talent show? Can I borrow those?

Hey Lacey– Actually our talent show didn’t have a whole lot of talent! But it was fun anyway. Are you finally through you list of Christmas celebrations?? xox
