Week in Review

Week in Review 1/19/18

I hope everyone had a great week. Thanks for checking out my weekly series, Week in Review, posted every Friday. Enjoy a recap of how the week went down and tell me about yours.

1) What’s gotten my attention this week?

Not shopping. I came across this article about a woman who gave up shopping for anything she wanted for an entire year. Could you do it? I think I could. It’d be tough though. I love Amazon.

2) What blog post should you check out?

Survival of the “Mite”iest. Don’t miss Radhika’s post about an innocent study on bed mites and how that relates to her sons. I think anyone who has had sons or lived with brothers can relate!

**I had a Meet and Greet recently where I asked bloggers to share their favorite posts from 2017. I’m going to a highlight a post a week from the links left. If you would like to leave a link and have a piece highlighted on a Week in Review post, click here and leave it in the comments.**

3) What’s been going on this week?

Book Club. I got to sneak away for a little bit to have grown up talk at a cool coffee shop to discuss The Boy Who Loved Too Much by Jennifer Latson. It was a good book, good company, good atmosphere, an overall good and needed time.

4) What’s going on this weekend?

I’ll post about this weekend next week. Stay tuned. I’m not ready to share just yet.

5) Did you miss this post?

Book Reviews: The Woman in Cabin 10, Lilac Girls, The Zookeeper’s Wife

Have you read any of these? What did you think? Are you reading anything good now?

Or this one. I was a perfect stay at home mom (for one day).

6) What did my kids create?

So the kids each got a set of rubber stamps for Christmas. Then in a kids meal they got these weird stickers of cans that they could add different facial features to. I was unloading the dishwasher and found these lined up in several of the cabinets!

Thanks for reading. How was your week? Tell me, what are you up to this weekend?

    1. The stamp sets are Melissa and Doug. The kids have loved them.
Totally on the same page about each of those books (pun intended!).
I can’t wait. This cold has had me a bit dreary :/

  2. Great read! I enjoyed it! I loved the no shopping article. The SAHM for a day was a fun read too! Our week began with MLK and family time. Then, school activities around the house to hanging out to a play date today. It was a simple week filled with simple activities. Nothing fancy. But I like simple. I look forward to reading more of your week in review posts in the future.

  3. Hi Lacey– OK, so your weekend sounds intriguing. I’m waiting to hear… And I read a book about a woman who didn’t shop for a year (just food, household supplies, gas). Her biggest temptation was when she lost one of her favorite socks and wanted to replace it!) She also didn’t eat out of pay for entertainment. What an experiment! We had a couple low-buying years when we were paying multiple college tuitions– but I don’t know if I could go cold turkey!! I’m off to read your NY times article! hugs hugs Lacey!

    1. Rhonda! Good to hear from you. We had a going away party for my sister who is moving to MI. It was a surprise party so I didn’t want to post it.

Oh how funny that a sock was her biggest temptation. I think a year is a pretty long time. I’d be willing to try it for a month or two maybe.

Do you have any plans for the weekend?

      1. Hi Lacey– Are yo OK with your sister moving?? I was bummed when my sister moved to China for 3 years!! (maybe your sister won’t be so far away). But surprise parties for sisters are always a good idea! This weekend we had a women’s prayer retreat today– and then I flew up to stay with kids in San Francisco. Going to spend the week and babysit little Lois on her mom’s work days. OK, well enjoy whole weekend Lacey! I’m off to check your Friday post… xox

      2. Oh thanks for asking. She is moving about 1000 miles away 😦 I’m pretty sad about it but trying to keep excited for her.
        How was the women’s retreat?
Yay for baby a week with baby Lois!!!

      3. Wow Lacey– that’s a big move! You should plan your first trip up to visit her– just you alone on an airplane (how fun would that be??). and– the Women’s Retreat was so good. About 30 of us– We had a leader who organized prayer topics and we all wrote a 2017 timeline of events and faith timeline that matched (hard to explain). And we broke into groups of 3 to talk and pray through those. Plus breakfast and lunch together. A good day. xox

      4. It would be fun to go visit her. I’m watching flights. I’ll nab one when it goes cheap!

Rhonda, I think that is so awesome and inspiring. A group of good woman coming together can change the world. Very cool you are apart of that.
