Week in Review

Week in Review 2/16/18

I hope everyone had a great week. Thanks for checking out my weekly series, Week in Review, posted every Friday. Enjoy a recap of how the week went down and tell me about yours.

1) What’s gotten my attention this week?

The Parkland Shooting. I have to be honest. I am tired of all the debate about this. Everyone seems to just spout out causes and answers and then just dig their heels in further to argue. This is a multi-layer issue. It’s not just about parenting or security or gun control or mental health. When we keep having people walking into schools on a regular basis killing teachers and children, we need to be looking at everything. I don’t have all answers.

It seems like upping the level of mental health checks or screenings before anyone can obtain a firearm from anywhere is a good place to start.

2) What blog post should you check out?

A timely gift. . . the reverberation of kindness. Tracey described herself as being “on the aspie bit of the autistic spectrum” and “always creating.” She gets sensory overloaded easily. So she blogs to interact. Knowing that about her I think makes her post, A timely gift. . . the reverberation of kindness, all the more appropriate. It’s about getting a surprise gift from one her of blogger friends. Check it out.

**I had a Meet and Greet recently where I asked bloggers to share their favorite posts from 2017. I’m going to a highlight a post a week from the links left. If you would like to leave a link and have a piece highlighted on a Week in Review post, click here and leave it in the comments.**

3) What’s been going on this week?

My brother moved. You may remember a few weeks ago I mentioned that my sister moved. Yep my brother did too, across the pond for work. Mostly I’m really proud of my siblings, but there’s also just a touch of “how dare they advance their lives and move away from me!” Here’s some pictures of my brother with my daughter. I’m not sure why exactly, but these two seem to take really cute candid moment pics together.

4) What’s going on this weekend?

Resting. Are you tired of that being my answer? I am. I’m starting to feel better though.

5) Did you miss this post?

Don’t Wait to Ask For the Autism Screening. Find out why you should be proactive in requesting an autism screening.

6) What did my kids create?

An ice cream sandwich stand. They moved a bench in the kitchen and slapped a sign on it. Viola. They had an ice cream sandwich stand. I went up and gave them 5 pretend dollars and asked for 2 pretend ice cream sandwiches. I was then told I could come back when I had real dollars.

I had a good weekend. Went to a grad school reunion – haven’t seen some of them in 22 years. Wow! And nursed my toe.
