I hope everyone had a great week. Thanks for checking out my weekly series, Week in Review, posted every Friday. Enjoy a recap of how the week went down and tell me about yours.
1) What’s gotten my attention this week?
Are You Afraid of the Dark? As young preteens my sister and I looked forward to Saturday nights on Nickelodeon. There were 2 hours of programming, Snick, that was tailored made just for us. Part of the Snick lineup included the super scary anthology series, Are You Afraid of the Dark? We cleared our busy little schedules. We popped popcorn. We huddled up in frightened anticipation for each and every episode. This week I stumbled upon a bit of news that the beloved show is going to be adapted into a movie. Just like anything that gets remade from our childhood, I hope they do it justice.
2) What blog post should you check out?
The Darkened Halls of High School: A true story. Tim uses his blog as one big therapy session, and really I can’t think of a better use for a personal blog, can you? He has a High School Dairies Series were he recounts his true high school stories that often include a heavy does of bullying. As someone who dealt with bullying as a kid, this series can be easy to relate to but hard to read. Sometimes the things that make us uncomfortable are the very things we should expose ourselves to though. Check it out.
**I had a Meet and Greet recently where I asked bloggers to share their favorite posts from 2017. I’m going to a highlight a post a week from the links left. If you would like to leave a link and have a piece highlighted on a Week in Review post, click here and leave it in the comments.**
3) What’s been going on this week?
Everything Sucks. It’s a show on Netflix about a group of kids in high school in the 90s. The story is okay on it’s own, but what the show got really right were things like well placed text books or cans of Surge that would instantly bring back memories I didn’t know I had forgotten. I don’t know if everyone’s 90s junior high/high school experience was all this similar, but the show nailed other things too. Like the impossibly good looking boy who takes himself way too seriously or the big, black Xs you would get on your hand when going to an all ages Tori Amos show. Yeah the show is shamelessly nostalgic, and I ate it up.
4) What’s going on this weekend?
Ugh I don’t want to answer! Yes, it’s rest AGAIN. I have another doctor’s appointment next week. I hope to have a good health update to pass along then.
5) Did you miss this post?
Asian Pork Tacos. An easy recipe to shake up your week night meal routine.
6) What did my kids create?
“Mom, I need 2 pieces of tape and some fire.”
Ummmm. “What are you doing??”
They were making cars out of their toy bins for their stuffed animals to race in. Monster needed flames coming off his, obviously.
Thanks for reading. How was your week? Tell me, what are you up to this weekend?
