Week in Review 3/2/18

I hope everyone had a great week. Thanks for checking out my weekly series, Week in Review, posted every Friday. Enjoy a recap of how the week went down and tell me about yours.

1) What’s gotten my attention this week?

Plum Print. I never win anything. So I was completely surprised when Military Moms Blog notified me that I won their Facebook giveaway for a Plum Print book. I hadn’t heard of the company before the giveaway but am excited to try it out. Plum Print sent me a big box to collect my kids’ artwork in. I’m going to send it back, and they are going to create a custom coffee table book out of all their masterpieces. It sounds like something that would make a perfect Mother’s Day or Father’s Day present or even gift for the grandparents (while reducing clutter without trashing our kids’ hard work). I’m in the “collecting all the pieces” phase, but I’ll let you know how the book comes together.

2) What blog post should you check out?

Garden Fresh Crunchy Marrow/Zucchini/Courgette Salad. This beautiful dish is on Lynne’s Recipe Trails, one of my favorite food blogs. Healthy eating and fresh ingredients are priority in all of her dishes, which makes her blog (and Instagram page) colorful and fun to follow. This recipe is no different. This salad would be perfect as a side or a light spring dinner or lunch. Bon appetit.

3) What’s been going on this week?

Book Club. I got out of the house for the first time (besides work) in about a month. I met two of my favorite gals at one of my favorite coffee shops to talk about Sing, Unbuired, Sing by Jesmyn Ward. Have you read it? Look for the book review post coming soon! It was a good, recharging kind of time.

4) What’s going on this weekend?

Youth of the Year. Growing up the Boys and Girls Club was a HUGE part of my life. The whole story on that is probably an entire post in and of itself that I’ll save for another day. But “The Club” helped shape me as a person and provided me many opportunities. I was even the Boys and Girls Club State Youth of the Year in 2001. One of my friends is the Executive Director of a division of Boys and Girls Club, and she has asked me to be one of the judges for their Youth of the Year competition this weekend. Talk about full circle. I’m beyond honored and excited.

5) Did you miss this post?

Baby #3 arriving September 2018.

6) What did my kids create?

Everything Cat in the Hat. It’s Read Across America week, and my son’s been doing a ton of Dr. Seuss stuff at school. We even went to the school’s family reading night where we given several simple take home games. Kind of like how I can’t just follow a recipe, my son just can’t follow game rules. He has to re-write them all. So now we have several little games he’s been working on revamping. I see it continuing through the weekend.

 

Whoa guys, I did more this week than I have done in the past 2 months combined. I’m not going to lie. I’m pretty tired.  How was your week? What are you up to this weekend?
