Week in Review

Week in Review 3/23/18

I hope everyone had a great week. Thanks for checking out my weekly series, Week in Review, posted every Friday. Enjoy a recap of how the week went down and tell me about yours.

1) What’s gotten my attention this week?

I touched on the possible teacher walkout a little while ago in this Week in Review. Since then I stumbled across this post, What an Oklahoma Teacher Wants You to Know About “The Walkout”. I found it to be informative and helpful. If you are in Oklahoma or just curious, it would be worth your time to take a look.

2) What blog post should you check out?

Astrid is a 31-year-old in the Netherlands who blogs at A Dutch Woman Blogs in English. She does have autism but writes about everything. Check out her post, My Autism Diagnosis Story, for a journey of her re-diagnosis.

**I had a Meet and Greet recently where I asked bloggers to share their favorite posts from 2017. I’m going to a highlight a post a week from the links left. If you would like to leave a link and have a piece highlighted on a Week in Review post, click here and leave it in the comments.**

3) What’s been going on this week?

Mini adventures. It’s spring break. I’m still working this week, but the kids and I had some mini adventures.

There have been a few trips to the library. We played, but we’ve also checked out a stack of books we have been reading our way through this week.

We’ve been to Jump Zone and free cone day at Dairy Queen.

I did a Facebook Live video from Andy Alligators for the Oklahoma City Moms Blog to promote Venture Passes. Ugh, the Facebook Live video was terrible. It was too loud to do it in the venue. I got ready to do it outside and have my kids be a part of it, but when I started they went in opposite directions. I was trying to show the location, but I couldn’t see my screen because it was so bright. Now I realize I could have just turned my phone around. In the moment though my brain stopped working. Anyway, here’s a link to the video if you want to check it out.

And my big sister kindly took my kids for a cousins sleepover. She’s done that a few times to help since I’ve been pregnant. It’s been a lifesaver for me, and the kids have a blast. I should probably put together a whole post on the hilarious text updates I get from her during these sleepovers.

4) What’s going on this weekend?

Pregnancy wise I have been feeling better, but I’m still struggling. My energy level is rock bottom. It’s all I can do to just get through a workday. As far as the “morning sickness”, I’ll be decent for a few days. Then I’ll have an entire day of being sick. So I guess I’ll keep playing it by ear until I level out. I mustered enough reserves from somewhere deep in me this week for our mini spring break adventures. Maybe rest is in order. We’ll see.

5) Did you miss this post?

Book Reviews: Since We Fell, Wonder, and Sing Unburied, Sing

If you’ve read any of these I would love to hear your thoughts in the comments. Also tell me about what you are reading now. Anything good?

6) What did my kids create?

I didn’t get a picture of the final product. They made a Mario World called “Mushroom Kingdom” out of Legos. Then they had A LOT of questions about the backstory of Bowser, Mario, and Peach. I may have to do some research or invent some lore.

Thanks for reading. How was your week? What are you up to this weekend?

  1. I’m reading [or trying to read] The Subtle Art of Not Giving A F*ck. A couple people have told me how the advice in it has changed their lives for the better. I can summarize the advice: To thine own self be true + Do your own thing. Either I’m too cynical for this book, or too lame-brained to get its nuances, but it’s not hitting with me. Hope your morning sickness levels out soon. Have a happy, restful weekend.

    1. I’ve heard of that book. I sincerely doubt you are too lamed brained to get the nuances. Soley based on the title I think I could see where you are coming from. Seems like it be hard to have a whole book based on that single premise.
Thank you, rest is probably in order. . .again. What are you up to this weekend?

  2. Thanks for sharing my post!

I’m so sorry you’ve been having all-day morning sickness lately and your energy level is so low. I hope you feel better soon.

I’ll be sure to check out your book reviews. I haven’t read any of these boos, but would love to read them.

  4. Please do a post on the texts! Just take screenshots 😉 I love your kiddo updates! I’m enjoying spring break with my 2 boys too. Quite possibly one of our last together since the oldest is a senior. Beautiful blue tropical waters are restoring my soul 😊

    1. Okay! I’ll have to go back and see
What I still have and start saving texts. I wasn’t sure if anyone else would find them as funny.

Okay I’m jealous about the tropical waters but really happy for you too. Wow the last spring break before college. Just wow. I bet that’s so weird and exciting.

    1. Free cone day was a hit! If I see it advertised again I’ll come tell you about it.
Yes my sister has been amazing, and she says the same thing about cousin time. I bet it’s fun when you see some of your grandkiddos get together like that too.
