Sometimes I am so out of the loop with trends that I kind of feel like an alien. That’s how it is with gender reveal parties. . . and Pinterest. But that’s a whole other post.
I see all the elaborate and clever reveals going on around me and on social media, but I’ve never had an ounce of interest in doing one myself. Not even a little. Now, I’m not knocking it if gender reveal parties are your cup of tea.
But here’s why it’s not mine.
This is my latest piece for the Oklahoma City Mom’s Blog. Read the rest by clicking here.
At least now I understand the hoopla a little better now. Still, I’m a private soul. 🌸

I might do it with the children, but I’m way too private for that!

Us too, it kind of makes me uncomfortable just thinking about it.

You know, back in the day, the gender was revealed on your birth day. Just saying… there’s precedent for not telling the whole world who’s on the way.

I so agree with you. I don’t understand making a big deal about the gender unless it’s among family, but I know it’s hard to contain the excitement and joy and want to celebrate. I’m also very frugal and practical and think the money that goes towards those kind of elaborate things is a nice beginning investment for a college fund.

Yes or towards maternity leave or towards diapers or towards a million other things. Someone else made a good point too, that when they are pregnant they are too tired to throw a party.

to me it just feels like another way to get people to give you presents… sorry was that too blunt? I found out with both my boys and told those who I wanted to tell… anyone else either heard as word spread or could figure it out through my registry. I’m pretty much old school when it comes to some of these things. I wanted to know because I needed to be in control of the arranging of the nursery and didn’t want only yellow and green baby things

You know I had another friend say the same thing. I guess I haven’t been to one. Is bringing gifts a thing you are supposed to do? I didn’t know!

Lacey, I 100% agree with you. I am so private it is scary. I also am not a person that does not like to be centre of attention, so parties and stuff like that are not for me. I think the way you did it by buying some pink sweet treats for your family was beautiful and so special.
How are you feeling lately Lacey? Has the on-going morning sickness subsided?

Thanks Lynne, it really was a lot of fun.
I’ve been better as far as the morning sickness. That’s almost all gone. I’m still waiting for that 2nd trimester energy to show up though! Thank you for asking 🙂

Thanks Rhonda 🙂 I don’t know if it is because of the stage we are in, but I feel like with kids there is always new material.
