Week in Review 5/11/18

I hope everyone had a great week. Thanks for checking out my weekly series, Week in Review, posted every Friday. Enjoy a recap of how the week went down and tell me about yours.

1) What’s gotten my attention this week?

Teacher Appreciation Week. While we appreciate teachers all year round, teacher appreciation week gives an opportunity to give them some extra love. My son’s school had suggested sending something small for each day of the week, Monday their favorite drink, Tuesday their favorite snack, etc. . . This mom cannot keep up with that. So I just sent some Trader Joe’s treats one day. I’ve also read over and over that gift cards are probably the most appreciated thing by teachers to receive. Did you participate? What did you do or give?

2) What blog post should you check out?

I know I have lots of book AND travel lovers here. You will for sure want to check out Jenny’s post, A Travel Tradition.  It’s on the blog Teach Mom Talks by a former teacher turned SAHM/blogger. It’s about a tradition I want to copy and do for my kids. . . if I ever am able to start traveling again!

3) What’s been going on this week?

It’s been another nutty week. A while ago I started in a new position at work that I’m still adjusting to. Also, the doctor said my iron is low. Hopefully I can get that up soon and start having some energy. Baby Girl in my belly has been moving around a ton. We have an IEP meeting to get my son ready for kindergarten next year. KINDERGARTEN! Oy,  lots going on. Mama needs a nap!

4) What’s going on this weekend?

Mother’s Day. I will actually celebrate later this month when my sister visits. We have a tradition of getting all the women together and going for lunch and pedicures. Really all I want for Mother’s Day though is a day of not being asked any questions. . . 

But I know a lot of amazing mama’s and want to wish every single one of you a beautiful and happy Mother’s Day.

5) Did you miss this post?

5 Ways to Use Pesto This Summer. You know this blog is supposed to be about “family, food, and other good stuff.”  I haven’t written a food post in about 5 months though. Curiously that coincides with being pregnant. Yeah, so I’ve had a weird relationship with food lately. This one was written before I got all crazy and started hating things like chicken and the smell of maple though. So it’s safe to check out. I promise.

6) What did my kids create?

A container garden. I was weeding our little garden plot when I heard my son grunting. He moved an ice chest all the way to the back end of our yard and started to fill it with an extra bag of potting soil I had. I was about to stop him when his sister started getting in on the action.

Together they worked (without fighting) to fill the ice chest. They were panting and sweating and problem solving away. Then they went inside and found seeds to plant. Then they watered it. We may be down one ice chest, but how in the world could I have stopped that process?
