I hope everyone had a great week. Thanks for checking out my weekly series, Week in Review, posted every Friday. Enjoy a recap of how the week went down and tell me about yours.
1) What’s gotten my attention this week?
This article titled Ohio Police Help Man Who Was Being Followed Home By A Pig. Oh my goodness, I could not love this story more. Police responded to what they thought was a drunk call. Instead they found a sober man on foot being followed by a pig who wouldn’t stop nudging him. Turns out the pig just wanted to be petted!
2) What blog post should you check out?
Yuletide Winter Wonderland. As temps are rising and the air is getting muggy, let’s revisit a post with beautiful snowy photos from the blog Planet Simon.
**I had a Meet and Greet recently where I asked bloggers to share their favorite posts from 2017. I’m going to a highlight a post a week from the links left. If you would like to leave a link and have a piece highlighted on a Week in Review post, click here to leave it in the comments.**
3) What’s been going on this week?
I’m going to be honest here. It’s been busy. Again. Between work and home I feel like someone needs something from me every single second of the day. I’m feeling worn down.
I have to give a shout out though to my mom who helped me big time with our garage sale last weekend. It was a bust, but I think everyone had a good time anyway. The kids liked having their Nana around all day.
Then another shout out goes to my girl Katy. Shes’ a friend who saw me struggling and dropped off food for dinner and breakfast one day. She didn’t ask. She just did it. And you know what? It was a huge, delicious help. Also, since I can tell you first hand that Katy’s food is so yummy, I’m also going to tell you that you should click here to check out her latest recipe post, 3 Super Simple Summer Side Dishes.
4) What’s going on this weekend?
Pedicures. Woot woot! My sisters and mom have our annual (and belated this time) Mother’s Day pedicures this weekend. My feet certainly need some love. Cannot wait!
5) Did you miss this post?
5 Fun and Cheap Outside Activities for your Toddler. This is an oldie but a goodie. What would you add to the list?
6) What did my kids create?
An arcade game. We’ve discovered the movie Wreck-It Ralph at our house. While that’s been playing on repeat a curiosity for old school 80s arcade games has also been born. We’ve been watching a lot of Pac Man and other games on Youtube since.
Naturally that made my son REALLY want an arcade game for the house. He asked for one for weeks. We finally got through to him that they are just too big and cost too much for us to have at this very second. So the engineering stinker made his own!
He built a box out of his magnatiles. Made a quarter slot and left a hole. Then he download some arcade games to his tablet and put his tablet in the box he built. Viola! The picture is of his first version that he has improved upon a lot since. Anyway, now we have a homemade arcade at home now. Pretty cool.
Thanks for reading. How was your week? What are you up to this weekend?
– Lacey
sounds like a typical May mommy post. for some reason even when my kids weren’t in school yet, may was the craziest month. when my boys were little I used to freeze toys into large ice blocks and then let them try to get the toys out of the ice. they had fun and it was no mess on the porch since it was just water when it was done. they also loved chalk too. dipping chalk into water gives it a totally different color then when you use it dry

Oh you are right. Why didn’t I realize that? It’s the month!
Oh my goodness the toys in ice is genius. I’m trying that. Like this weekend.

oh another that they did a lot was using water to paint on the concrete, no paint just water. give them different size brushes and let them at it

The garage WAS Fun ‼️ Every kid should experience it a few times, whether they need it or not. Ice cream with good dancing music afterwards is always a great incentive as well!
I am also on for the post Mother’s Day peddies WHOOP WHOOP‼️‼️‼️ I’m going with periwinkle this year 😊😊😊
Great days
Luv ya

Hi Lacey– Fun to read Katy’s blog post– some real usable summer recipes!! And that video game arcade!!– took a lot of patience to put it all together! Hope you can catch up with yourself this weekend– I know what you mean about someone needing something from every minute of the day– I remember telling Larry– “I take care of everyone. Who takes care of me?!” take care friend. xox

Thanks for checking out Katy’s post. I liked the idea of the watermelon salad one. I thought it was weird at first, but I think the balsamic would pull the fruit and feta together nicely.
YES! Someone mentioned that’s typlical for a mom in May to feel that way. It hadn’t dawned on me, but I think that’s probably true. Hopefully we slip into a nice relaxed summer vibe now.
How are you? Any weekend plans?

Hi Lacey– I don’t know why May always seems so busy! So I agree– summer, here we come! I flew up to San Francisco this weekend, because my Wisconsin daughter is out here with her sis to goto a work conference. I couldn’t resist a chance to hang with the girls in the same city! And I’m watching Lois all week while Ani works. I love that. hugs hugs Lacey!
