I hope everyone had a great week. Thanks for checking out my weekly series, Week in Review, posted every Friday. Enjoy a recap of how the week went down and tell me about yours.
1) What’s gotten my attention this week?
DZ Comics. I’ve got the sweetest 5 year old boy with a new found interest in 80s arcade games. He happens to have autism, and most arcades are too overwhelming for him though. So I’ve been a mom on a mission for the last few weeks. I just knew there had to be a place without all the crazy lights and noises with a few games we could take him to play.
I scoured the internet and only came up with places that were too far away or inside bars. So I went to where I should have started my search, a local moms Facebook group. Several people suggested DZ Comics. I called the store and gave the run down of the situation. They were welcoming and thought this would be a good place for my kiddo. So we went, and it was a huge success.
The store has various gaming merchandise up front, an area for tournaments in the middle, a small cafe in one of the back corners, and in the other back corner was a nice, quite area with about 6 arcade consoles and a few table. It was exactly what I had been looking for. It was perfect.
My son was a tad overwhelmed at first but that was because of his own excitement. He warmed up and had a great time. I’m totally in love with this local store but more importantly so is my son.

2) What blog post should you check out?
Jannat007 nominated me for the Mystery Blogger Award. While I’m grateful and flattered, I’m barley able to even keep up with my Week in Reviews at this point in time. But I do want to send a big THANK YOU and encourage everyone to click here to check out the post and blogs that were nominated.
**I had a Meet and Greet recently where I asked bloggers to share their favorite posts from 2017. I’m going to a highlight a post a week from the links left. If you would like to leave a link and have a piece highlighted on a Week in Review post, click here to leave it in the comments.**
3) What’s been going on this week?
A bunch of buttholes. One day I came home from work to find the kids were wound up and the hubs was tired. So I loaded up the kids for our first splash pad visit of the season. We went to a new one that had just opened this past weekend. I figured it would be busy, but I thought in the evening on a weekday might be less busy.
It was pretty busy, busy with a bunch of big butthole kids. The swarm of big kids were running over the little kids. Then I was the butthole grownup standing at the top of the waterslide telling the big kids to wait their turn. And then I was the butthole grown up again sternly telling other people’s kids to quit spraying me and my kids directly in the face.
After an hour I was tired of it and told my kids our five minute countdown to leave was starting. Then my son turned into a butthole and tantrumed out because he didn’t want to leave yet. Everyone was a butthole!
Moral of the story?
Don’t do something nice for your kids and husband. No no that’s not it.
Don’t go out of your way to do something after a long work day. No no that’s not it either.
Summer is going to be long and challenging. That might be true, but I don’t think it’s the moral.
Awww here it is. Don’t be a dummy, and take your kids somewhere right after it first opens and expect anything less than crazy.

4) What’s going on this weekend?
A visit to Grandma’s. My Grandma turned 95 in April. I missed the big celebration because I was still pregnant sick. So my cousin and kids and I are are going for a belated visit. Should be fun!

5) Did you miss this post?
Easy Chocolate Marshmallow Cupcakes. This is an older post that’s worth a re-visit. Plus guys, I’m pregnant. So yeah. Cupcakes.
6) What did my kids create?
They’ve continued experimenting with making their own arcade game. This is Ducktales in the making.
Thanks for reading. How was your week? What are you up to this weekend?

YAY for going to see Grandma Mary! Y’all should have a super time! Boo on buttholes (did not realize that was one word LOL)! It’s worth the extra drive to come to my splash pad, it’s almost a private one. Give my mom a hug for me, please!
XOXOXOX

have you looked at going to movie theaters or bowling alleys for the arcades? they often have a small section and it might not be too crazy and often at least here and where we lived in FL they were almost always empyt

OK Lacey– Love the homemade arcade game!!! And you are the BEST mom to track down just the right game place for Lincoln. That’s a win! And that splash pad looks amazing!! We’re going to one nearby during Grammy Camp in a couple weeks, but it is so much smaller/simpler. Hope yours is calmer and more fun next time you try it! hugs hugs!

Small. Simple. That’s usually my mantra. I need to stick to that!
Thanks Rhonda, it really felt like a mom win finding that place for my lil guy.
