Week in Review

Week in Review 7/6/18

I hope everyone had a great week. Thanks for checking out my weekly series, Week in Review, posted every Friday. Enjoy a recap of how the week went down, and tell me about yours.

1) What’s gotten my attention this week?

Incredibles 2. The last time I took the kids to the movie theater was about two years ago to see Finding Dory. My daughter fell asleep, and my son with the speech delay ironically talked through the whole thing. My husband surprised us one day this week though and took us to see Incredibles 2 at the theater. The kids did really well. Although it wasn’t as good as the first one, the movie was still a lot of fun. The kids have been talking about it all week.

2) What post should you check out?

I’m already over the fireworks. It’s about a mom who is frustrated with all the fireworks going off in the neighborhood a week before and after the Fourth of July. Does that happen in your neighborhood? Does it bother you or your kids?

**I had a Meet and Greet recently where I asked bloggers to share their favorite posts from 2017. I’m going to a highlight a post a week from the links left. If you would like to leave a link and have a piece highlighted on a Week in Review post, click here to leave it in the comments.**

3) What’s been going on this week?

Our worst 4th yet. We had some emergency home repairs that had to get taken care of. Since it was a holiday, my mom took the kids and my husband and I rolled up our sleeves. We (really he) got it mostly finished. We were able to pull together roasting hot dogs and marshmallows and setting off fireworks with the kids that evening.

The kids then had meltdowns about everything. We had the wrong kind of chips. There were fireworks. There weren’t fireworks. Then I went to bed late and woke up early for work since it fell on a Wednesday this year. I hope this weekend is easier!

4) What’s going on this weekend?

We are getting new living room furniture delivered. Since our kids are still so young we just got the very most basic model we could. That way we won’t be completely heartbroken when something inevitably spills on it. But we are excited that it won’t start out smelling like dogs or pee!

5) Did you miss this post?

Thoughts from the 2nd Trimester.  I made it through! Now onto the third.

6) What did my kids create?

Some stuff for the Fourth of July. Don’t let the pictures fool you. These may seem like happy-ish pictures, and we did have some really good moments. But mostly everyone struggled through the evening. Still, some creative juices flowed.

They made a display for their nighttime fireworks.

They made a sidewalk chalk city that we threw the smoke bombs on. That’s a little firetruck on the road coming to the rescue.

Monster even got in on the action with some fireworks called Monster Blasts.

Thanks for reading. How was your week? What are you up to this weekend?

  1. I don’t even have a kid yet and I’m with you on the fireworks. There were fireworks going off until 11pm Wednesday night and we had to be up Thursday for work. Seriously, let me go to sleep. Also, my cat kept scurrying around the house, finding a place to hide, and then deciding it wasn’t safe enough and looking for another place. I’m just glad she’s an indoor cat so we didn’t have to worry about her getting lost outside.

  2. Just love the sidewalk city with the smoke bomb going off — and the fire truck arriving in a knick of time! so inventive! Sorry about the 4th– house repairs and car repairs. ugh. I just want things to roll along and work! And– excited for new living room furniture!! What came?? We got a new sofa from Overstock at few years back and Larry had to put it together– that was an unpleasant event at our house!! Hope your went better! hugs hugs Lacey!!
