Week in Review

Week in Review 8/31/18

I hope everyone had a great week. Thanks for checking out my weekly series, Week in Review, posted every Friday. Enjoy a recap of how the week went down, and tell me about yours.

1) What’s gotten my attention this week?

‘We’re Not Gonna Take It’.  It’s a clip from NPR about how critics hated this Twisted Sister song. It’s proven though to be an anthem for the oppressed over decades, including the Oklahoma teachers earlier this year during their walkout. It’s embarrassing, but my 3rd trimester hormones made me tear up listening to this damn piece. It really is interesting though.

2) What post should you check out?

Sunshine Blogger Award. I was nominated for the award by Astrid over at the blog A Multitude of Musings. I tend not to participate in awards due to time constraints. I always appreciate being included though and always encourage you to check out the blogs in the post. So go do that!

3) What’s been going on this week?

We are getting into the swing of school during the second full week. Work has still been busy. I’m nearing the end of my 37th week. Sooooo still pregnant.

I had a friend and former coworker swing by and drop off a lasagna for when the baby comes. She included some bonus homemade cookies. Those didn’t last long to get a picture of though!

I mentioned last week that my work threw me a surprise baby shower. It was actually the best baby shower anyone could have for baby #3. They had 2 different kinds of cakes, and the only gifts they had were diapers, wipes, and gift cards. Perfect!

There were two woman that were gone that day who brought me their gift later. They have been spending their lunch breaks sewing this baby quilt. I was blown away not only how beautiful the blanket is but how thoughtful they were to spend their time to give our baby such a keepsake.

Everyone’s generosity has been touching.

4) What’s going on this weekend?

I’ve got a few things to wrap up before the baby gets here. I’m going to get that taken care of and maybe try to squeeze in a pedicure.

5) Did you miss this post?

Book Reviews: Flowers of the Killer Moon, The Dry, The Chalk Man

If you’ve read any of these I would love to hear your thoughts in the comments.  Also tell me about what you are reading now. Anything good?

6) What did my kids create?

My daughter has come home from school with what I think are some pretty amazing water color paintings. She seems to have a style.

My son has been coming home everyday with new train drawings. He’s got a plan to figure out how to link them all together “like a real train.”

Thanks for reading. How was your week? What are you up to this weekend?

  1. Lacey, wow! What a sweet baby shower – I’m so touched by the quilt that your co-workers made for you. There’s so much caring in that. 🙂 🙂 I hope you get everything done that you want to in order to prepare for your baby’s (imminent!) arrival. Including a pedicure. ❤
I'm catching up on my blog and coaching work this weekend. I'm starting another intensive school for coaching in January, and there's prep work that is SO helpful for me. I really love this profession and expanding into being the best possible coach to serve my clients. Plus, I'm looking for a place to live. Keep me and all in your prayers, ok?
    Love you Lacey.
ps – GREAT creations from your kids. Your daughter's water color definitely has style, and I love your son's trains and creativity with that.
