Week in Review

Week in Review 9/7/18

I hope everyone had a great week. Thanks for checking out my weekly series, Week in Review, posted every Friday. Enjoy a recap of how the week went down, and tell me about yours.

1) What’s gotten my attention this week?

Sling TV. Here’s another thing I’m probably the last person to know about it. We gave up traditional cable years ago and mainly use Netflix or Prime. The hubs added Sling TV for us this week though. It’s live streaming of a bunch of channels for $25 a month. I’ve enjoyed watching the random ghost story on the Travel Channel and the kids have loved watching Nick Jr. And hey, going into maternity I’m not going to argue with another entertainment source for the house.

2) What post should you check out?

Ten Blogging Years. One of my very best blogging friends is Rhonda at A Thankful Heart. She posts beautiful recipes, fun adventures, and interesting book recommendations. This last week marked the 10th anniversary of her blog. 10!!! I don’t think I’ve done anything for 10 years. I’ve been married for almost eight years. I’ve been a mom for six. I haven’t had a single job for close to that long. Doing anything for 10 years is a major accomplishment. So congratulations to my dear friend whose insights and posts brighten my days. I can’t wait to see more!

3) What’s been going on this week?

I’m at the end of week 38 in my pregnancy. Everyday I wake up and think I can’t do it for another day. Then I make it to lunch and think I can’t make it through the afternoon. Then I make it to the end of the workday and feel like I can’t make it till bedtime. Then I go to sleep and proceed to wake 100,000,000 times in the night to pee. Then it repeats.

4) What’s going on this weekend?

Plans are pretty lax right now while waiting on the baby to make her world debut.

5) Did you miss this post?

The History of Monster. The thing about Monster is he is not just a security attachment or favorite stuffed animal. He is a character in and of himself. Monster says and does the bad things my son is not supposed to. . .

Monster got left in the car one day. So I took him to work and sent pictures of him to my son throughout the day.

6) What did my kids create?

A train room. We recently put in new floors and furniture in our living room. My son got it into his head that the entire house needs re-done before the baby gets here. So he drew and hung train pictures all over our bedroom. He even added a train reading corner.

Thanks for reading. How was your week? What are you up to this weekend?

  1. I love the train room! We had one of those for real when the boys were young. Alec (now 19) was obsessed with Thomas. Mainly because my mom who watched him 2 days a week promised to buy him a train every time he went “pee pee in the potty”. We had to search out obscure Thomas trains.

Send me your home address and I will ship you a very extensive train set!

  2. Love Lincoln’s redecorating ideas– a reading corner (for trains books!) is always a good idea. And oh gosh, hope this little baby girl makes her way here soon!! It’s time. And- thanks for the blog mention. You know I love love reading your posts –about family and books and life too! xox

    1. I’m seriously blown away you’ve been at it for 10 years! It makes me have so many questions I want to ask. Like how has your blog progressed? What do you do when you hit slumps or have you? Do you have blog goals or just lost for fun and as you can? You don’t have to answer them and these are just a handful. It’s just impressive!

      1. You are such a good “conversationalist” Lacey. Know how to ask the questions people are thinking about. I can see that in your posts. My blog looks a lot different than it did at first (bad camera, fewer posts each month) and I have taken a long break a couple times to decide if I really want to keep spending the time on it. No goals or plans– just do it for fun and to collect things I want to remember. How did you get started?? Do you have hopes for how it goes ahead?? hugs friend!
