I hope everyone had a great week. Thanks for checking out my weekly series, Week in Review, posted every Friday. Enjoy a recap of how the week went down, and tell me about yours.
1) What’s gotten my attention this week?
Are we all ready to move on to Christmas yet? Because I stumbled across this article about Blue Bell Christmas Cookies Ice Cream. I know that Blue Bell isn’t sold nationwide. So for those of you who aren’t familiar with it, I’m sorry that you are missing out on some of the best ice cream money can buy. For those of you who are familiar with Blue Bell, have you ever heard of or tried this?! It kinda sounds gross, like it would be too sweet. But I’m also completely curious.
2) What post should you check out?
If you are in the OKC area check out the best list of holiday events by clicking here.

3) What’s been going on this week?
Happy Belated Thanksgiving. How was your holiday? We spent it with the in-laws and had a delicious time.
Thanks to my amazing sister for babysitting my kids, the hubs and I were able to catch Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald. Have you seen it yet? What did you think? Let’s talk wizards.
It felt like the later Harry Potter movies, and it was so fun to see Hogwarts again. I think I need to re-watch it though. There are so many characters and backstories taking place that I’m sure I missed things. Also, some of the timelines between this movie and Harry Potter didn’t seem to add up to me. But overall I thought it was pretty good.
4) What’s going on this weekend?
Maybe some clean eating and catching up on things around the house that need attention?
5) Did you miss this post?
Instant Pot Beef and Vegetable Soup. A recipe for a complete meal ready in about 15 minutes.
6) What did my kids create?
A Metroid cake. Well kinda. My son is still into old school video games. He and my husband had been watching about the history of Metroid all last week. So my son wanted to make a Metroid cake for my husband’s birthday. Guys, I’m no cake decorator. So my daughter and I whiped up some brownies. My son taped printed Metroid images on some straws and stuck those into the brownies. Ta-da! I present to you our Metroid cake.
Thanks for reading. How was your week? What are you up to this weekend?
– Lacey
Your Metroid cake is a thing of beauty! Nicely done, a fresh and unique approach to birthday cakes. Looking forward to seeing The Crimes of Grindelwald, even more so after reading your review. 😃

Thank you, I’ll let the kids know it was complimented. They’ll love that.
Ewww I would love to know your thoughts on the movie when you see it.

That baby is so cute! Rolling with the weather in Nichols Hills. One day coats and today shorts. It’s so confusing. Did check out the ice rink though and that was fun.

I know. My allergies are getting whiplash from the weather.
We haven’t been to the rink, but I’d like to.

That cake!! It’s better than anything out of a fancy bakery– I’ll bet your husband loved it! And – I like your weekend plan Lacey. We are on the last night of our Ojai stay for Thanksgiving — It was fun and pretty chaotic. So now I’m ready to go home to eat salads and put things back in order!! Hope you’re doing well friend. Glad you got the movie night out!! hugs!

lol I just asked in another comment how your Thanksgivibg went. Did staying in the air b and bs help or add to the chaos?
Yes!!! We are resetting after Thansgiving with some soup loaded with veggies.

It was a little crazy doing Thanksgiving at an Air Bnb– packed along so much food and equipment. It all came out OK. But if we do it again I think we should try turkey lasagna!! (easier!) May favorite was dinner out on picnic tables at a countryside Italian place on Friday night– so relaxed and casual. And– yes we are ready for some vegetable soup here! xo

Turkey lasagna?! Do you have a recipe for that on your blog?
Your Friday nights sounds about my speed.

Hi Lacey– I’d just make lasagna with turkey Italian sausage– sounds easier (and more popular) than a big turkey! xo

Okay I haven’t tried Blue Bell but one year, Denny’s had this Christmas Cookie shake and I ordered it like 3 times during the season lol… the cookies mixed in the ice cream was just to die for!
Sounds like you had a wonderful Thanksgiving! So nice of your sis to watch the kiddos so you two could have a peaceful movie date alone. ♡ & the cake looks so fun!

Hahaha I’m not sure if Denny’s has the shake every year but, I sure hope so! They are still on their Pumpkin Pie one at the moment!
My Thanksgiving was pretty nice. 🙂 Thank you for asking!! ❤

I need to go see the Crimes of Griswald. My sons wanted to do this over their Thanksgiving break, but we were away on vacation. I need to go soon. Love me some Harry Potter anything

Oh Lacey, I love this post!! Your Thanksgiving sounds wonderful, and the photo of your kids is precious (how adorable is your little one with that sweatshirt??). And, I love the Metroid cake, your kids are so creative — with brownie too. 🙂
I had an interesting weekend. My partner and I split up after Thanksgiving, it had been coming I sense Lacey. I love him and there are also some ways that we’re incompatible. I did a post about it on Friday if you want to check it out. So moved me to do that – and to connect with others who may appreciate the vulnerability. I took a bath, did a spiritual event, wrote in my journal, and was my own coach. Please keep us in your prayers. Thanks Lacey and bless you!
Take really good care of yourself. You’re a sweetheart, and your Week-in-Review is great.
Love, Debbie
