I hope everyone had a great week. Thanks for checking out my weekly series, Week in Review, posted every Friday. Enjoy a recap of how the week went down, and tell me about yours.
1) What’s gotten my attention this week?
Kent State recruits the first NCAA player with autism. Bennett said. “I want to use this platform to inspire other kids with autism and non-autism. I want to let them know, hey, if I can do this, you can do it, too. A lot of times they feel alone and by themselves, and I felt that same way growing up.’’ As a mama with a child with autism this makes my heart full.
2) What post should you check out?
I’ve been super focused on food posts this week. So check out some recipe reviews on Hunida’s Blog by clicking here. We’ve been experimenting with cauliflower rice too. I’m curious about the Teriyaki Chicken with Pineapple Fried Cauliflower Rice recipe. Sounds yummy!
3) What’s been going on this week?
Whew. It was a doozy. Work kicked my tail, and I just kinda hobbled along through the evenings recovering from my work day. My kids sure looked cute though.
4) What’s going on this weekend?
We are going to make some chili and watch OU beat Texas in the Big 12 conference championship game. Boomer flippin Sooner, baby! Can’t wait. If you are looking for a good chili to eat this weekend, check out this white bean and chicken chili recipe by clicking here.
5) Did you miss this post?
A recipe for Pumpkin Oatmeal. A perfect breakfast for fall mornings.
6) What did my kids create?
Everyday hero art pieces for the National PTA Reflections Art Program. Both pieces are moving on from the school to state level!
My daughter who is in PreK made this piece entitled “Woman Doctor, Lady Doctor”. Her statement about the piece is that, “Lady doctors are everyday heroes because they are nice and pretty and helpful.”
My son who is in Kindergarten made this pieces entitled as his teacher’s name. His statement about the piece is that, “Teachers are everyday heroes because they keep you safe and teach you ABCs and 123s.”
Thanks for reading. How was your week? What are you up to this weekend?

I like your daughter’s assessment of lady doctors. She’s nailed the job description. Nice abstract art, too. Good use of orange.

Haha yes she sure summed it up. I’ll tell her you liked the orange. She was proud of that especially.

That is such good news from the NCAA. It’s another positive headline I will show my son and add it to a wall he has shown the people with autism who have been tremendous successes. Love your son’s description of his teachers.

It sure warmed my heart. It’s so important to see people with autism doing normal things. Love that you are taking a step further and sharing with your kid. Why didn’t I think of that?!

I wonder how many penalty calls both teams will get regarding the hook ’em horns gesture! lol Cute kids! Love how she poses.

I love that your son associates his teacher with keeping him safe. I’m sure for him that is on many levels of feeling safe.

Yes! We’ve come a long way. 2 short years ago this would not have been the case at all.

HI Lacey– As a teacher I love Lincoln’s entry!! And it’s pretty awesome, too, that Riley thoughts went to women who are doctors!! That is good to hear about the basketball recruit with autism– I’m glad he’s speaking out. And sorry about your week. It will get better. But you already know that. Just praying you’ll find the joy (with those cute kids) in the middle of all the bustle. And it’s Friday!! hugs!

I liked their everyday heroes too 🙂 There for awhile we had a really rough go of it with Linc and school. So for him to put down teachers is a big deal I think. Also, Riley wants to be a doctor when she grows up. Well that or a unicorn. How was your weekend?

Lacey, what a great post!! I hope you have an amazing time watching the sports game with your kids. So fun, and it sounds like you could use the relaxation. ♥️💜
Their artwork is so good! I love the theme, everyday heroes.
I’m coming back from a spiritual event with a wonderful Facilitator. Present to the peace, and grateful I went = so supportive now. Tomorrow I’m going to do coaching work and see what else the day brings forward.
Blessings to you, Lacey! Take good care of yourself. Debbie

So amazing, Lacey! We uncovered an old pattern of self-doubt that was blocking her from creating what she wants in her financial (and life!) situation. Really uplifting. Thank you for asking. ❤
I love you Lacey. Debbie
