I hope everyone had a great week. Thanks for checking out my weekly series posted every Friday, Week in Review. Enjoy a recap of how the week went down, and tell me about yours.
1) What’s gotten my attention this week?
Last week I had posted about how I was glad we held my son back a year. This week a friend sent me a link to this article, Why You Shouldn’t Send Your Child to Preschool: A Teacher Explains. Of course, there are exceptions depending on the child, teacher, school, and circumstances. Overall though it gives something to think about, how we as a country are moving away from age-appropriate play-based learning.

2) What post should you check out?
The Hungry Boys by a fellow mom, Kris, is one of my favorite blogs to follow. While the hubs and I aren’t vegan, we go through phases where we reset and cut down or eliminate our animal product intake for a period of time. So I appreciate her veggie-packed, vegan recipes. I was especially impressed that she managed a vegan manicotti dish. Click here to check it out.
3) What’s been going on this week?
Man alive! I love the 3 day weekends, but the 4 day work weeks end up being nuts. So instead of complaining to you about the long weekdays, enjoy some pictures of our Memorial weekend. My dad and stepmom hosted us, my nieces and nephews, and one of my best friends (who took some of these pictures) and her kid for some fun at the farm.
4) What’s going on this weekend?
It was the kids’ first week of summer vacation. We let them have a mostly unstructured week of alternating between playing outside (when we haven’t been under tornado warnings!) and playing video games or watching movies. Our library kicks off their summer reading program this weekend though. So we will stop by there and play the rest by ear.
5) Did you miss this post?
Making Italian subs at home, because warmer weather is upon us.
6) What did my kids create?
Summertime sandcastles! Complete with a flag fashioned from a stick and some trash.
Thanks for reading. How was your week? What are you up to this weekend?

There are a few things going on but nothing big. I’ll try and get some chilling time in the summer.

Chilling is the best really. That’s what summer is for, I think.

Man it was one heck of a week. I’m sorry yours was long too. We both need one of those mojitos we’ve been talking about…
