Week in Review

Week in Review 6/7/2019

I hope everyone had a great week. Thanks for checking out my weekly series posted every Friday, Week in Review. Enjoy a recap of how the week went down, and tell me about yours.

1) What’s gotten my attention this week?

Pioneer Library’s Summer Learning Program. We went to sign the kids up for the library’s summer reading program and noticed there was a slight difference in the wording of the program’s name. This summer the library is also hosting STEM activities and has themed learning kits that can be checked out. These new activities, in addition to reading, earn the kids points for their overall goal. I think it sounds like an interesting enhancement to the program.

2) What posts should you check out?

Laura Beth is over at Hot Shot Headlines where she blogs about media, books, and American Girl dolls. To get an idea about what her fun blog has to offer, check out the posts:

Adventure Time: Portsmouth, VA Edition (The Visit From the Vacation Doll)

Fallible Justice Book Review

How Iceland Got Teens to Say No To Drugs

3) What’s been going on this week?

Andy Alligator’s Fun Park and Water Park hosted the Oklahoma City Moms Blog contributors and our kids with a double park pass. I played hooky from work and took my two oldest kiddos. We played our tails off!

Did I completely bite it on the Wipe Out obstacle course? Yes. Yes, I did…

My ego might have been bruised. That didn’t stop us from though from going around the lazy river 100 times and eating our weight in waffle fries at the snack bar. The kids also tried a bunch of new things they hadn’t done before, go-karts, bumper carts, and rock climbing. It felt like a perfect way to spend a summer day with them. We all had an absolute blast.

4) What’s going on this weekend?

Well, it is kicking off with these beauties from Belle Kitchen for National Donut Day. Then we may hit up this free carnival to celebrate the grand opening of AIM Clinics, who I wrote a piece about. Read it by clicking here.

Also, church. I can count on one hand how many times we have been to church in the last year. Between having the baby and a broken hand, it just wasn’t happening. I think I can do it now though.

5) Did you miss this post?

With warmer weather upon us, I know everyone is trying to use their ovens less. So here is slow cooker recipe for your summertime dinner needs, Bell Peppers Stuffed with Chili Cheese Tater Tots.

6) What did my kids create?

A video game. My son has been wanting to learn how to code. He and my husband made a game in the program Scratch where a TRex chases a Stegasaurus. Pretty cooool!

Thanks for reading. How was your week? What are you up to this weekend?

– Lacey

  1. Thank you so much for featuring my blog! I really appreciate you linking not one, but three of my posts. You made my week. And I love the fun park photos!

  2. Wow, Lacey, your son created a video game?! How cool is that? 🙂

I love what you’re up to this weekend! I hope you have a fantastic time, with donuts (very important) and church and having fun being with your family.

I’m in NY right now, both to meet with some politicians here––I used to work in politics, did you know that?––and to check it out as a possible place to live. Figure it’s good to keep leaning into possibilities until I get the green inner light to move, if I do!

SO good to connect with you Lacey. I think you’re amazing, as I know you know!! A big hug to you and your husband and kids. I love you.

    1. Yes! I the video game impressed me. I still haven’t made it to church though :/

Debbie, I didn’t know you were in politics. I went to school for political science and worked at the state senate for about 4 years though. Crazy that we kinda have that in common.

How was your NY trip?Where are you now?

I think you are amazing too. Sending you prayers always, friend!!!

      1. Wow, interesting!! Did you like working at the Senate? Do you ever think about getting back into politics?

I’m in LA and thinking about moving to NY. We’ll see––funny, because I just commented on your Week-in-Review this week. 🙂

        Bless you Lacey!!! Love you–Debbie

  3. Andy Alligator’s sounds so fun! I’d love to try a Wipeout course! The donuts & bell peppers dish both look so delish & that’s super cool your hubs & kiddo created their own game!!
