Easy Homemade Chili

I know it’s still blazing hot out guys. I’m jonesing for fall though and bet you are too. So make this now or pin it for later. Either way, keep this chili recipe. It’s easy, delicious, and all homemade.

Because chili does not always look pretty on its own, here is a picture of Frito chili pie made from this chili recipe.

Easy Homemade Chili

– 1-2 lbs ground meat. Sometimes I do a combination of hamburger/sausage/turkey/buffalo, whatever I have on hand.
– 2 cups cooked kidney beans or lentils
– 1 28 oz can of diced tomatoes
– 1 small onion chopped
– 3 cloves garlic minced
– 1 Tbsp chili powder
– 1 tsp cumin
– 1 tsp salt
– 1/4 tsp black pepper
– 1 dash cayenne pepper

1. In a small bowl mix chili powder, cumin, salt, pepper, and cayenne pepper. Set aside.
2. In a large pot over medium heat add the meat, onion, and garlic. Stir occasionally until meat is cooked through.
3. Add the can of tomatoes, beans or lentils, and the seasoning mixture to the pot. Mix all ingredients. Then bring to a boil.
3. Reduce heat to low. Simmer for 15 minutes.
3. Serve in individual bowls adding the desired topping, sour cream, Fritos, tortilla chips, diced onion, and/or shredded cheese. Enjoy!

      1. I’ve got a ton of rib meat in there. I think there is leftover taco meat too. I hate throwing things like that away so I save it for meat sauce and chili. leftover corn gets frozen for chili too

  1. I love chili regardless of the time of year. Where I grew up people made a distinction between chili [that goes on a hot dog] and chili soup [as in what your recipe is all about.] To this day I have to stop myself from saying “chili soup” or risk sounding like a small-town dork. 😧

  2. This looks amazing, Lacey! I love your use of spices. 🙂

Just got back from 2 weeks in Bulgaria and catching up on blog posts and Facebook. Saw that you tagged me on a post––will check it out shortly!

Sending you and your family a lot of blessings.

    1. My husband is the same way. I think he could eat it several times a week and not get tired of it even. If you try it, let me know what you think. Hope you are having a great week!

  3. Made this for my lunch today and it was soooo good! Thanks for sharing the recipe! I didn’t feel like cooking ground beef so I used leftover roast and leftover steak bites from my freezer. Delicious! Your seasonings are spot on.
