I hope everyone had a great week. Thanks for checking out my weekly series posted every Friday, Week in Review. Enjoy a recap of how the week went down, and tell me about yours.
1) What’s gotten my attention this week?
I am continuing this section with some new discoveries that were made over my birthday week. When I went to visit my friend in Tulsa, we passed by ahha, which describes itself as “Tulsa’s connecting place for artists, cultural organizations, and the public.” It was open. We had time. So we went in.
The first floor was an interactive exhibit, King’s Mouth, made by The Flaming Lips. We donned 3D glasses and climbed in the mouth for a sound and light (but somehow more) show. The rest of the floor presented pieces by local artists in a gallery. We didn’t get to see the second floor, The Experience. It is closed and getting ready for the next exhibit.
The third floor is an art studio, where you are open to use materials and create to your heart’s desires. I don’t spend evenings away from home often and was missing my kids. So I made them some stickers and a cuphead with pink eyelashes.
I can genuinely say that visiting ahha was like nothing I’ve ever experienced before.
2) What blog should you check out?
Randomness Inked where Saumya shares poetry and writes about her own personal growth. She also hosts a weekly writing prompt challenge every Sunday.

3) What’s been going on this week?
Another busy week. We had Monday off, which was nice. It made the rest of the week feel like I crammed 5 weekdays into 4 though. The whole family did go and get haircuts as we were all pretty shaggy. The 2 big kiddos got awards for the pieces they entered in the National PTA Reflections Art Contest. The theme was “Look Within”. My daughter painted a piece about bedtime prayers, and my son drew a picture inspired by friendship. I’ll have to find the pictures I took of their entires.
Have I ever told you how much I love elementary school performances and awards ceremonies? They are so freakin cute.
4) What’s going on this weekend?
Reading. I hope. Last week my friend took me an author event with Erin Morgenstern, author of one of my favorite books, The Night Circus. Allllll week I’ve tried to start reading her new book that we got at the event, The Starless Sea. My kids and house and family have had other plans though. It’s like they can feel my excitement for this book and that causes them to interrupt me every 3 seconds. I hope to get a chunk of time to finish it this weekend.
5) Did you miss this post?
Book Reviews: Drums of Autumn, We Were Liars, and The Flight of the Silvers. I’ve been reading a lot, but it’s been a hot minute since I have posted any reviews. So I started getting back into it with these three books that kept me company during late night newborn feedings last year.
6) What did my kids create?
Art for Kids Hub is a Youtube channel my kids have gotten into lately, especially my 5-year-old daughter. It is a dad that posts different items you can draw along with. He always has one of his own kids drawing too. The pictures are fun, and he breaks it down so easily (again, my 5-year-old follows along without any problem). Since it’s a family, you don’t have to worry about cussing or anything gross slippy up in the videos. My daughter can spend an entire Saturday morning drawing along, and my son usually sticks around for one video/drawing. Below are my daughter’s first two pictures, a turkey and a dragon.
Thanks for reading. How was your week? What are you up to this weekend?

I have never been to Tulsa but that sounds like an experience I would enjoy! Enjoy the weekend with the kiddos!

I use art hub of kids videos in my class all the time. there certainly is a variety of items and various levels in the drawing, but it is great direct drawing lessons. that art exhibit you attended looks like a fun/unique place to check out

It was pretty different for sure. I wish the 2nd floor had been open. “Immersive aret” seems to be the upcoming thing around here lately.
