I hope everyone had a great week. Thanks for checking out my weekly series posted every Friday, Week in Review. Enjoy a recap of how the week went down, and tell me about yours.
1) What’s gotten my attention this week?
Midwest City. Hear me out! If you are in the OKC area, you know that the east side is kind of looked upon as the lesser area of the metro. Because our family had been cooped up with being sick off and on for a few weeks, we had what we call “An Adventure Day” on Saturday and headed to Midwest City.
We went shopping at the Town Center Plaza where we were able to get in and out with all 3 kids easily. We went to Altitude 1291 where I had a Bloody Mary, the kids had lunch, and the boys played laser tag. Then we headed to the Warren Theater to see the Sonic the Hedgehog movie. ALL of the seats, not just in the balcony or director’s suite, reclined and were heated. The kids loved that, and the baby even took a nap through the whole movie! We had a perfect day running around Midwest City.
2) What blog should you check out?
Oh my gosh, this post, At the Grocery Store: You Say Potato, I Say Bosc Pear, on Ally’s Blog The Spectacled Bean CRACKS. ME. UP. She recounts a hilarious encounter. The weird thing is that this has actually happened to me before. Check it out.

3) What’s been going on this week?
Things have slowed down a bit. Work eased up. Most of us at home are healthy now. The big news for the week is that my daughter taught herself how to tie her shoes. I ordered this book that has laces in the back and steps that walk you through how to tie them. She sat down with it for off and on over a few weeks until she got it down. We were all so proud of her that we took her shopping to pick out her first pair of Converse.
4) What’s going on this weekend?
Youth of the Year. For the 3rd year in a row I get to be a judge for the Youth of the Year competition for the local Boys and Girls Club. It’s a leadership program for kids that entails volunteer work, writing essays, giving a speech, and going through an interview process. I was the state Youth of the Year when I was in high school. I’m honored to still have an opportunity to be involved and give back a little bit to a program that helped and meant so much to me.
5) Did you miss this post?
Kale and Quinoa Salad. It’s starting to feel a little like spring. Here is a lighter, warmer weather recipe for you to try. Even though it has kale, it’s good. I promise.
6) What did my kids create?
Sidewalk Chalk Sight Words. It was warm enough one day this week to kick the kids in the backyard. Big sister worked on her site words with sidewalk chalk, and little sister helped.
Thanks for reading. How was your week? What are you up to this weekend?

Thank you for featuring my blog here. I didn’t have a pear photo for that post like the one you have here. The photo pairs nicely with your copy. [pun intended]
