Week in Review

Week in Review 3/6/2020

I hope everyone had a great week. Thanks for checking out my weekly series posted every Friday, Week in Review. Enjoy a recap of how the week went down, and tell me about yours.

1) What’s gotten my attention this week?

The bacon, onion, and chive cream cheese at Old School Bagel. I have been a fan of this place for a long time now, but for some reason, I hadn’t tried this specific cream cheese of theirs till this week. Listen, there is no going back. No cream cheese will ever be as good now. I need more. I need more now.

2) What blog post should you check out?

Dear Children of War on the blog Simply Me SMC. Get ready for an important and powerful read in this open letter to the children of Marawi. Check it out.

3) What’s been going on this week?

Crap. I am not going to gloss over anything here. It’s been a crap week. I am not doing great on the work front. After us all getting over respiratory infections just a few short weeks ago, almost everyone in the house tested positive for the flu on Tuesday. It is going to be nothing short of a miracle if I don’t get it. This has been the hardest week in a long time. To not be a complete downer, here is a pic of the kids getting ice cream cones they earned from filling up their reading logs before everyone got sick.

4) What’s going on this weekend?

Birthday parties. I hate to say this and jinx us, but everyone seems okay now. If we are all healthy and don’t get something else horrible, we have a ton of kid birthday parties to hit up this weekend.

5) Did you miss this post?

Clam Stuffed Portobello Mushroom Caps. A 30-minute recipe to get you out of your weeknight dinner rut.

6) What did my kids create?

I think this is the first time they didn’t create their little hearts out this week. Thanks, flu. There is one notable highlight though. My daughter has been learning sight words in Kindergarten all year. This week she sat down and looked at a few sentences with me that were half of her sight words and half simple words she didn’t know. She looked at all five sentences and read them! It was the first time she successfully sounded out words she wasn’t familiar with. It was a very exciting and proud moment.

Thanks for reading. How was your week? What are you up to this weekend?
