Oh, guys. This dish isn’t pretty, but it is damn delicious. The hubs and I had to stop our selves from polishing the entire pot off in one sitting. It’s a deconstructed cabbage roll using quinoa instead of rice. It takes a few minutes to prepare and a few minutes to cook. So if you, like the rest of the world, are getting tired of making dinner, give this a whirl.
Cabbage Roll in a Bowl
Ingredients
– 1 cup uncooked quinoa
– 1/2 head cabbage chopped
– 1 onion chopped
– 1 lb ground sausage
– 4 cloves garlic minced
– 2 cups spaghetti sauce
– Grated parmesan for topping
– 2 cups of water
– Salt and pepper to taste
Directions
1. Place the ingredients in this order in the Instant Pot, water, quinoa, cabbage, onion, garlic, sausage, sauce.
2. Cook on Manual for 6 minutes, and let it naturally release.
3. Using a large spoon to stir the pot.
4. Serve in individual bowls and top with grated parmesan cheese. Enjoy!
Hmm, thanks for the idea. I just ordered one of those pots and it is still on the way. I could put veggie sausage for the other kind, make it not so tomatoey for the spouse who avoid that, and it’d be great. I’ll let you know if we ever make it.

Thanks. It seems like a great idea, since I used to have a crockpot way back, and my grandmother had a pressure cooker, and this eems to combine the good qualities of each. Making food more quickly and easily seems helpful too, since health around here is often a little droopy.

It is SO helpful. We use ours more than anything in the kitchen and have for about a year now. It took a little bit of playing around with at first to get the hang of it. Now I can’t imagine our kitchen without one!

Good to hear–our acupuncture lady recommended it because hs ays having a kind of cooked rice with a lot of water in it helps all kinds of nutritional woes, so she was the impetus for getting this one. I also got tired of lots of pots and pans that are a little bit aluminun or other iffy materials, and those which get ruined if the spouse uses a metal spoon or something on them in error.
