Week in Review 5/8/2020

I hope everyone had a great week. Thanks for checking out my weekly series posted every Friday, Week in Review. Enjoy a recap of how the week went down, and tell me about yours.

1) What’s gotten my attention this week?

My mom! Yesterday we got groceries from 2 different stores, and I wasn’t able to really find meat. This morning she dropped off a boatload of groceries on our doorstep, including meat, and donuts for the kiddos.  How thoughtful is that?

2) What blog post should you check out?

It Rained Stories is a series on the blog by Deepa Kadavakat. I relate to Deepa who writes about beauty in an ordinary life. This series can be read by kids or parents. Check it out.

3) What’s been going on this week?

Quarantine. Social Distancing. Distance Learning. Remote Working. Repeat.

Oh yeah, and then throw in that one pretty afternoon I loaded up all 3 kids by myself to go hiking. We needed to get out of the house and my husband needed a break. I took us to a place nearby we hadn’t been to before. There were trails that I assumed all led back to the parking lot. They did not. We popped out at the end of a trail faaaar way from the parking lot and had retrace our steps back. I exhausted the kids. I think they still had an okay time. We saw a lot of butterflies.

4) What’s going on this weekend?

Happy Mother’s Day! I know so many amazing mamas who deserve a wonderful day, and I hope each and everyone one of you gets it. I ordered myself a convertible bag I’ve been wanting and added stuff for bagels and lox and mimosas from our weekly grocery pickup. Maybe next year I’ll let the hubs and kids plan it. This year I thought I’d make it easy.

5) Did you miss this post?

Who else has been cooking up a storm? With warmer weather upon us, check out this post about how to use pesto to add a punch to some regular dishes.

Pesto Pizza

6) What did my kids create?

A lego maze. The kids’ school have sent some pretty cool assignments for their “specials”. Specials are made up of the classes S.T.E.A.M. (science, technology, engineering, art, mathematics), P.E., and Music. One of their projects this week was to build a maze out stuff around the house. They worked together, and this kept them happily busy for at least an hour.

Thanks for reading. How was your week? What are you up to this weekend?

  1. My sister dropped off build your own donuts this morning! It made me happy even if I felt a little barfy after! It feels like groundhog day so I am grateful for anything that feels different!! I ❤️ butterflies but they’re not here (up north) yet

  2. What a sweet mama you have! The highlight of my week was dining in Chile’s with my husband and two sons. It felt almost normal, haha. (We just couldn’t see all of our server’s pretty face.)

  3. Hi Lacey – just a note to say that I’m thinking of you and sending you so much loving.

I see this post is from May––that’s a while ago and I hope all is ok for you.

Bless you and your family. Be in touch anytime!!

    1. Hi Debbie,

It is always SO good to hear from you. I have not been able to blog since May and am on social media just a little. I’ve been working remote and the kids have been in and out of school. There just isn’t time for much else besides family and work right now, but we are managing okay.

      How are you???
