Whew! How was your Christmas? Does anyone else feel like you’ve sprinted a marathon through the month of December? We had the best holiday yet. Even so I’m now ready to get back to normal.
So looking on to New Years, what traditions do you have? We’ve always spent New Years Eve at home with good take out. Then we have orange rolls and something with black eyed peas on New Years Day.
Here are two recipes that have been proven crowd pleasers, even for people who don’t like black eyed peas. The first was suggested by a friend when I asked for football food ideas on Facebook and a bunch of other people seconded the suggestion. It’s a black eyed pea dip from the Pioneer Lady’s blog. It was easy and yummy and perfect for munching on throughout the day. We’ve made it several times since:
The second is a black eyed pea and ham soup that my step mom makes. It’s like getting a warm comfortable hug from a bowl. Plus I think cornbread on New Years may be a southern tradition, and that goes perfectly with this soup.
Happy new year friends!
Great recipes especially since I like black eyed peas and cornbread too! Happy New Year!

Yum! Thank you for these recipes, Lacey. The soup looks delicious.
For New Years, I attend a wonderful event at the HQ of my spiritual org. It’s called “Sacred Tones” … a lovely way to connect with friends and most importantly, to connect inside as the year turns to the new.
So many blessings to you and your family for 2017, Lacey! Grateful to know you, my friend.
Love and blessings,
Debbie

Thanks Lacey! I appreciate you too. 🙂 We listen to different sacred tones and practice them as a way to attune inwardly to our hearts. It’s beautiful.

Are you sure they’re not an urban legend?
