Week in Review

Week in Review 6/29/18

I hope everyone had a great week. Thanks for checking out my weekly series, Week in Review, posted every Friday. Enjoy a recap of how the week went down, and tell me about yours.

1) What’s gotten my attention this week?

Oklahoma State Question 788. In a primary election this week voters turned out to the polls and passed state question 788 by 57%, approving the use of medical marijuana. Our state is so conservative that only now is 6 point beer and wine going to be allowed to be sold in grocery stores. I’m not unhappy it passed, just very surprised it was even on the ballott. There’s talk of the state legislature going in to special session to set regulations on the measure. Let’s hope they don’t screw it up.

2) What post should you check out?

Book Recommendations. Here’s a post I collaborated on with two other contributing writers of the Oklahoma City Moms Blog. Check it out and see if there’s anything you want to add to your summer reading list. Also, are you reading anything good now?

**I had a Meet and Greet recently where I asked bloggers to share their favorite posts from 2017. I’m going to a highlight a post a week from the links left. If you would like to leave a link and have a piece highlighted on a Week in Review post, click here to leave it in the comments.**

3) What’s been going on this week?

I am feeling a bit better after being sick all last week. My sister kindly took the kids for a sleep over one day. We’ve still been reading like crazy people for the library’s summer reading program. We’ve had play dates at a splash pad. I had a book club meeting; look for a review of a must read coming soon. Our AC broke and was repaired. I had a tire blow out on the highway during rush hour. Whew, you know, I guess it’s been a busy week.

4) What’s going on this weekend?

I have no idea. I can’t wrap my head around the fact that it’s the last week in June and that the 4th is next week already. I feel like there’s probably some plans I’m forgetting about because time is flying by too fast for me to keep dates straight. If we’ve got plans this weekend and you are reading this, please remind me.

5) Did you miss this post?

My Dream Registry for Baby #3. What would you add to the list?

6) What did my kids create?

Captain Underpants inspiration strikes again. In one of the books the two boy characters make up a fake recipe for Kruppcakes. You know, like a play on cupcakes but with the name of their principle included. So my kids created their own recipe cards for their version of Kruppcakes. My sister laminated the recipe cards for them AND helped them make Kruppcakes while they were there for the cousins sleepover this week. Thanks sister!

Thanks for reading. How was your week? What are you up to this weekend?

  1. I love the fact that your kids take things they read, see or do and transform them into inspirations of their own for projects at home. teachers do this all the time, but it’s nice to see kids do it on their own! glad you are feeling better. hope you have a great weekend

  2. Isn’t getting a flat tire scary? It happened to me recently while out of town and the idea of being stranded on the side of the road terrified me. My dad made me change one when I first got my license but there’s NO WAY I could do it now. Glad you were safe.

    1. It was scary! My tire was completely shredded, and I barely made it to an off ramp.
Same here. I’ve changed one years ago. I called my husband and told him I was going to try. He said, “You’re 7 months pregnant, and it’s 100 degrees out. I’ll be right there.” I was SO appreciative.

      1. That’s what my daughter in Wisconsin said today Lacey– hot and then rainy! It’s high 70’s here, nice breeze. So we’re happy. I know it will get hotter in July! Hope you have a happy 4th! xoxo

      2. 70s? Sounds perfect! Yep we sound like Wisconsin right about now. Goes from 90s-100s to rain to cool us off, then back to muggy and HOT.
